In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Rachel Corby, plant-inspired author and rewilding coach, about her plant reawakening with Mugwort. We delved into Rachel’s personal journey of developing an intimate bond with the green beings around us—learning to listen and hear their subtle voices. It was a enlightening to hear the profound impact truly listening to plants has had for her and the transformative experience her relationships with kin.
Rachel and I explored the concept of rewilding through the art of plant whispering. We shared insights on shedding our conditioned layers leading to a harmonious reconciliation with nature. It was a beautiful discussion about the healing power of plant medicine, the importance of honoring the ‘plantness’ within us, and the unique frequencies and essences that each plant embodies.
Join us on this journey of growth and discovery, as we embrace the transformative potential of connecting with our leafy companions.
Rachel Corby first began to hear the whispers of plants while completing research for her Geography degree, in a remote Scottish valley during the early 1990’s. She followed their call across five continents, learning in each place from the peoples of those lands, but also directly from the plants, mushrooms and the land herself. Her work is entirely experiential, constantly guided and nudged by direct communication with Gaia, by her plant and fungal allies.
Rachel is the author of four books including Rewild Yourself: Becoming Nature and most recently Rewilding & The Art of Plant Whispering. In addition she has contributed chapters to four further books and been published in various magazines and journals in the UK and beyond. Rachel is an advocate for regenerating and reviving interest in the indigenous plant medicine of her homeland, the UK. Rachel hosts online and in-person events, including indigenous plant ceremonies, workshops encouraging the direct communication with our more-than-human kin and personal rewilding apprenticeships. www.wildgaiansoul.com

TRANSCRIPT OF EP.64 MUGWORT DREAMER WITH RACHEL CORBY
1
00:00:03.800 –> 00:00:13.789
Tigrilla Gardenia: Hello! Hello! Hello! Everyone! Welcome back to another episode of reconnect with plant wisdom. It’s me, Tigrea Gartenia. And this is episode
2
00:00:14.030 –> 00:00:21.159
64, 64. Can you believe it’s 64? I know. I say that every single time, but it’s always shocking to me, because
3
00:00:21.190 –> 00:00:23.399
this, you know, it just keeps
4
00:00:23.500 –> 00:00:43.460
growing and evolving, and I’m having so much fun. And this episode in particular was so fun to record. So this is episode 54 mugwort dreamer with Rachel Corby and Rachel Corby. Well, there’s just so much to tell about Rachel and Rachel’s work, and how she is.
5
00:00:43.460 –> 00:00:56.280
You’re going to find it all in the show notes at the end. But Rachel is basically an author and a personal rewilding coach, and she’s just done so many things. But more than anything, she recognizes herself as a plant whisperer.
6
00:00:56.280 –> 00:01:04.410
So, without any further ado, here is episode 54 mugwort dreamer with Rachel Courtney, enjoy
7
00:01:05.000 –> 00:01:23.039
welcome to reconnect with plant wisdom. I’m your host. Tigrilla, Gardenia, nature inspired mentor and leadership coach. In this podcast I share ancient and modern knowledge from biology to spirituality, about the wondrous ways in which plants can help you lead a naturally conscious life.
8
00:01:23.120 –> 00:01:24.910
A.
9
00:01:27.420 –> 00:01:40.010
Here we are, here we are, Rachel. This is so exciting. This was definitely an unexpected conversation that we had. And I’m really looking forward to having everybody kind of learn.
10
00:01:40.150 –> 00:01:46.509
Who is Rachel? What is it that Rachel does? And what is Rachel’s connection to plants. Please tell us.
11
00:01:47.880 –> 00:01:54.770
Hi, lovely to be here. Thank you for inviting me. So so yeah, I mean, I
12
00:01:54.800 –> 00:02:01.250
call myself a plant whisperer for want of a better, better word. Really? And
13
00:02:01.520 –> 00:02:08.539
yeah, my life really has become about working with plants. It started out as a gardener. I was
14
00:02:08.770 –> 00:02:12.240
kind of a keen permaculture organic gardener.
15
00:02:12.926 –> 00:02:14.060
and then
16
00:02:14.240 –> 00:02:26.930
actually, I’ll just go straight to to my beginning story, because I remember one day to say, I wish I was. I was little Mrs. Clark. She was in her nineties, in her nineties, and I was weeding between her wallflowers.
17
00:02:27.110 –> 00:02:31.850
and I was just saying to the wallflowers, I just wish I could hear the plants talk to me, and they did.
18
00:02:32.490 –> 00:02:40.039
and the rest is history. But I mean to be fair before that. I was doing my geography degree, and
19
00:02:40.130 –> 00:02:46.609
I mean I wasn’t really a plant person. I probably had what people call plant blindness. No, it was just green stuff.
20
00:02:46.770 –> 00:03:08.909
but my dissertation for my degree. I did physical geography, and I was like looking at the micro vegetation on a slope, and I had these meter square kind of quadrats they’re called, and I had to count what I chose this as a decision, but like to count how many different species there were
21
00:03:08.910 –> 00:03:32.470
in every square metre to see if there was a variation. It was all about landforms and stuff, but anyway, I just got blown away by mosses by the intricacy and the beauty of moss. Actually, we were chatting earlier about Robin Wolcimaro and her book about masks. Such a great book. Such a great book.
22
00:03:32.470 –> 00:03:54.350
really, absolutely so. Yeah. Ever since then, which was in the early nineties, I’ve just been. Yeah. I’ve just been falling down the rabbit hole of plants and or the plant hole the plant root. Well, I’m curious. What did those Wallers say to you that 1st time? Do you know
23
00:03:55.300 –> 00:03:56.729
they actually
24
00:03:56.820 –> 00:04:16.289
repeated the name of a plant over and over again. They just said to me, and it was a plant I’d never heard at that time. They just said, Bromancia, Bromancia, Bromancia, and they just replied it, repeated it and repeated it. And I’m like, Wow, okay. So I ran home, looked up Bromancia, which is.
25
00:04:16.329 –> 00:04:23.790
it’s a bit like detour. It’s another plant of that family. I brought one from the garden center, grew it in my garden.
26
00:04:23.860 –> 00:04:26.180
flowered once, and then died.
27
00:04:26.210 –> 00:04:33.260
And then that was that so? I didn’t go very far with this plant, Brugmansia, but it was the fact that
28
00:04:33.310 –> 00:04:53.980
a word just started repeating over and over in my head, and I was just like that wasn’t from me. I’ve never heard of that plant name before, and I didn’t know what to do with the Bookmanser. Of course I didn’t know how to access. I knew something was going on. I knew there had been a communication, but I didn’t know how to take it further.
29
00:04:54.464 –> 00:05:12.300
At that point. So so, yeah, yeah, I find, I find it really interesting when we have that 1st plant experience. Oftentimes it’s a case like this in the sense that for some people sure you know immediately why the plant is talking to you, but for so many of us we actually don’t.
30
00:05:12.390 –> 00:05:21.779
And what I’ve been able to gather now, after all these years of both my own journey, as well as listening and speaking with so many people that are on the journey is that
31
00:05:21.900 –> 00:05:23.820
it’s almost as if that
32
00:05:23.870 –> 00:05:30.719
plants that speaks to you, or that points you towards somebody else you know. Some other plant to work with
33
00:05:30.820 –> 00:05:43.060
is I don’t know. I feel it like there’s it’s the subtle parts coming in. It’s it’s the the unspoken part of the connection that needs to be re-established.
34
00:05:43.180 –> 00:05:46.169
And so just the fact that you listened
35
00:05:46.490 –> 00:06:03.799
that you went out, that you brought this plant into your proximity was actually the purpose. It wasn’t about how long the plant lives, or necessarily about the the you know the discussion you were going to have with that plant. But it was about
36
00:06:04.710 –> 00:06:19.700
kind of bringing you into a state of awareness through a completely different plant that you don’t know that you don’t have any kind of conditioning around. That is, not a plant that’s within your realm normally, and therefore
37
00:06:19.700 –> 00:06:41.159
he has access to you in a completely different way, because now you’re caring, and you’re like something about you is important. And even the death process is an important lesson to learn, but that it’s completely different from the norm of if that plant would have told you. I don’t know Pine Tree or something else, that you would have had a different kind of relationship.
38
00:06:41.320 –> 00:06:44.760
Do you? Do you find that that it’s something similar? Or
39
00:06:45.730 –> 00:07:09.759
I actually love what you’ve just said, because it makes me so feel so much better about that of my prick mansia. I hadn’t ever quite thought of it like that. But you’re absolutely right. It was acting in response to to hearing, to feeling it wasn’t even a feeling. It was actually hearing a name of something.
40
00:07:09.760 –> 00:07:21.384
I actually went out. I did it. I went out and got that plant. And yeah, yeah, just just very interesting. What you just said, because I had never thought of it in that way. Actually. But
41
00:07:22.460 –> 00:07:23.749
I think that is.
42
00:07:23.840 –> 00:07:40.159
you know, going back to sort of, I guess, the practice of plant whispering. That is the most important thing you you put out. You kind of have your intention to the world. I I’d love to hear what the plant has to say. You know I’ve heard this is possible plant consciousness. I’ve heard it’s real. Come on.
43
00:07:40.190 –> 00:07:54.220
give me something, and then and then what are you going to do with that? And if you don’t do something with that, then it’s a dishonouring of, you know of a your request. But B, the fact that the plant gave you something. So it’s
44
00:07:54.310 –> 00:08:07.810
yeah. It’s a very important part of it all, isn’t it? It absolutely is. And like you said, it’s about the listening. So here you are. You have your broke mansia. What happens next. Where do we go from here on this plant? Reawakening journey?
45
00:08:08.170 –> 00:08:11.250
So so for me, I ended up
46
00:08:12.230 –> 00:08:23.789
I ended up doing lots of fasting and cleansing. This wasn’t part of really intentionally plant part of the plant journey, but what happened was I started to be a lot more
47
00:08:23.930 –> 00:08:24.740
clear.
48
00:08:25.070 –> 00:08:27.079
and I started to hear
49
00:08:27.100 –> 00:08:34.329
just become more aware. I guess this time it wasn’t so much actually voices, but I’ve had a deeper awareness of
50
00:08:34.360 –> 00:08:51.869
energies, I suppose, and a kind of a plant going attracting me. It was just subtleties. So it was this kind of oh, you’re so attractive! I must come and sit with you. Look at you, admire you. And that was still really
51
00:08:52.050 –> 00:09:12.850
one way, because it was me kind of no, it wasn’t. It was 2 way, because they were calling me, and I was responding, but I still couldn’t take it any further than that. So then I started reading around it, and I read books by Elliot Cohen and Stephen Harabuna, which was kind of all. There seemed to be all I had found. Anyway, back in.
52
00:09:12.860 –> 00:09:27.660
Where were we back then? In probably the early 2 thousands. So and then I went and studied with both of them. So I went and studied with Elliot Cohen first, st and did his plant spirit medicine, practitioner training. And then I did a year with Stephen Harabuna
53
00:09:27.660 –> 00:09:48.120
apprenticing with him. So oh, wow! You do know that Elliot Cohen. So a few episodes back. I had Patrick Hanalt on the show, and he is. He is the person who is teaching Elliot Cohen’s work now going forward. So look at the connections, how they are, and Stephen Muner is.
54
00:09:48.370 –> 00:10:10.440
I have to say, the 1st time I tried to read his books I was not ready for it. I was just not ready. I found them so difficult and dense to try to get through and wordy and everything. Now it’s slightly different, you know, especially now that he’s passed. But even in the last few years I was like, Oh, okay, now I’m starting to see it. I really love him for quotes. I feel like there’s these
55
00:10:10.470 –> 00:10:17.860
I feel like for me personally. His writing is is just is a little too much. I can’t almost take it in. It’s like woof.
56
00:10:17.920 –> 00:10:19.590
But there are these
57
00:10:19.830 –> 00:10:24.659
points that he hits that really make you think
58
00:10:24.770 –> 00:10:30.050
and really stop you, and at least for me, they really stopped me in my tracks, and we’re like, Oh.
59
00:10:31.350 –> 00:10:45.690
oh, my goodness! You know, and that’s that’s the way I took him. I can’t imagine what it was like working with him. So that’s a big jump to go like from where you were to kind of working directly with these people. Where? Where do you find?
60
00:10:45.840 –> 00:10:47.430
Who did it lead you to?
61
00:10:47.740 –> 00:10:49.660
I say, a who there’s a who?
62
00:10:50.240 –> 00:10:57.110
Who? Which plant? Exactly. Yes. Well, this was okay. So
63
00:10:57.560 –> 00:11:04.109
in. So it was during Elliot’s training. So I went and studied with him, and I think the training was 18 months long
64
00:11:04.270 –> 00:11:08.239
and part of his training we
65
00:11:08.680 –> 00:11:36.539
learn his style, his version of how to connect with a plant, how to have a communication, a two-way communication, which was what I’d been looking for. This is why I went to him, and also why I then went to Stephen later and learned his way, which was a different way. So you know, I just wanted all the ways I could get so that I could get in there. But with Elliott one of the plants that is fundamental to his healing system is mugwort.
66
00:11:37.220 –> 00:11:38.090
And
67
00:11:38.980 –> 00:11:43.789
yeah, I mean, what happened with mugwork was to change everything
68
00:11:43.880 –> 00:11:46.280
really for me. So it kind of
69
00:11:46.840 –> 00:11:50.780
mugwort. I don’t know how else to say it. Mug work became my boss.
70
00:11:51.480 –> 00:12:17.069
I understand that perfectly. As I’m staring at Spider Plant, who is like trying to say I’m not your boss anymore. I’m passing everything off to know all the Christmas cactus. But for the longest time I totally understand what you mean. Right? Great. I’m glad you do. Because, yeah, I mean, mug work really, really has been fundamental, has guided me and has
71
00:12:19.210 –> 00:12:27.260
yeah, just kind of kept me in line. It’s like a kind of a bossy older sister who’s like don’t get carried away, you know.
72
00:12:27.480 –> 00:12:44.699
on your kind of human journey. Come on, come back and do it, and do it like this. Not like that. And it’s been very clear. Yeah, very clear story with Mugworth. Well, I’ve seen also that you in working with mugwort. What? What were some of the first? st
73
00:12:44.910 –> 00:13:13.630
Actually, I have a different question that’s completely separate, but connected. So I am right now, as we’re recording this. We’re getting ready for the summer solstice here in Da and her and I am part of a team that translates the rituals. It takes a long time for all of us, for a small group of us who are combination native English speakers and non-native English speakers, but very good English speakers to try to translate the essence of the really deep rituals at Da and her
74
00:13:13.680 –> 00:13:43.209
has, and in the summer solstice in particular, there’s an entire connection to Artemesia, to mugwort. And so we were translating this. And we have these big, long discussions sometimes, because, for example, in the case of this ritual, we’ve chosen to keep the word artemesia, instead of using mugwort? And it was a long discussion of what is the essence? What’s the essence of the plant? Where is the plant coming into this, what is the relationship with the plant?
75
00:13:43.440 –> 00:14:00.839
Hence Artemisia, which is closer to the Latin name, is the reason we chose it. And but I’m so curious for you. Of how did you start working with mugwort? Do you feel like there’s a different frequency between mugwort as opposed to Artemisia. Is it the same.
76
00:14:00.910 –> 00:14:21.500
I don’t know. I might be just asking a question that just has to do with me, because I’m stuck in this translation mode, and therefore so deep into. And because I have that with a lot of the plants like names that the plant gives me, that my plant friends give me like Noel, the Christmas cactus, who says, Call me Noel, but Christmas cactus versus the scientific name.
77
00:14:21.500 –> 00:14:31.920
We have these discussions around here. I’m looking around at all the plants that are surrounding me, and we some of us have really deep conversations of this, like Spider Plan, who says my name is
78
00:14:31.920 –> 00:14:39.519
Spider Plant. That is my name. Capital, S. Lowercase. P. You know all these different things. Do you find that the name changes your relationship?
79
00:14:41.360 –> 00:14:56.839
I think. Yes, I mean, I don’t. I haven’t had so much of a journey with the names as clearly you have, because that’s really interesting. But I’ve done quite a bit of work with mushrooms as well, and one of the one of the mushrooms is.
80
00:14:57.160 –> 00:14:58.989
as some people would call
81
00:14:59.050 –> 00:15:00.629
fly, a garrick.
82
00:15:00.770 –> 00:15:16.529
but Amanita, which is the Latin name Amanita muscaria, or I don’t know how to pronounce it, really. But that is for yeah. Yeah. So, Amanita, it’s amanita, and Amanita does not like to be called fight a Garrick at all
83
00:15:17.500 –> 00:15:38.429
to me, you know, when when we’ve had that conversation I am not. Fly, Garrick, that’s a horrible name, and it’s not who I am, but with mugwort. Artemisia, as you say, is such a beautiful word. It just is beautiful and poetic. But I’ve never had that conversation actually with mugwort. Murgowert has never said to me, so I just
84
00:15:38.430 –> 00:15:49.879
I just call key mug work all the time, which makes sense. I mean, each one of us enters into relationship differently, you know. And I think that that’s the beauty of it. So tell me about your relationship with Mugmart.
85
00:15:50.150 –> 00:15:56.020
Yeah. So I mean, well, it was all related to this 1st instance. I’d never, ever
86
00:15:56.130 –> 00:16:04.489
even heard actually. And that’s that kind of might seem incredible to people now, because everybody has probably heard of mugwort by now.
87
00:16:04.500 –> 00:16:12.210
But back then, when were we in 2,006, and I was on this week’s training with Elliot? One part of that long training.
88
00:16:12.290 –> 00:16:18.050
and we went to a lay by a side of a road, and it was raining.
89
00:16:18.150 –> 00:16:48.030
and there was like 30 of us, all transported to the side of this road, because that’s the only place where you know. Elliot and his helpers had found the mud work. So we went in there, and we kind of sat there and drew it with our pencil crayons in the rain, with drops falling on us, and all of this. But we sat there for an hour, or we stood there for an hour, just having this initial conversation with mud, and then we went back and did a shamanic journey, and part of that we were kind of
90
00:16:48.250 –> 00:16:50.920
unlike the other work we were doing.
91
00:16:51.020 –> 00:16:55.640
It was mug work was going to be instrumental to this healing system we were learning.
92
00:16:55.710 –> 00:17:00.879
And Bogart turned around to me during the shamanic journey and said.
93
00:17:01.110 –> 00:17:04.849
You’re not going to work healing people in this
94
00:17:04.970 –> 00:17:22.479
kind of the way that it’s been presented in this training, which is quite disappointing. You know several 1,000 pounds into a training module. Do you know what I mean? And Margaret’s. No, this isn’t your path. You will be very much more effective if you teach other people.
95
00:17:22.970 –> 00:17:26.969
or you bring other people on the journey to meet us directly.
96
00:17:27.770 –> 00:17:37.300
And that’s so, basically, a Margaret said to me, you will drum for other people like so play the shamanic drum for people while they go on a journey to meet with the plants.
97
00:17:37.530 –> 00:18:03.889
That is going to be your role. And I was actually given that as a role by mugwort. So from then on it was kind of like, okay, so that’s why mugwort is my boss. Because Mugwort told me you’re not going to be sat in a clinic with people lying on your lovely treatment couch and telling you about their indigestion. No, you are going to be helping people, because that is the cure that we need.
98
00:18:03.920 –> 00:18:14.630
you know, and that was what my work told me. That’s the cure that we need. And so actually, I mean, I’ve written a few books, and in my most recent one it was going to be literally a pamphlet of how
99
00:18:15.070 –> 00:18:27.820
you know 50 pages how to how to meet with a plant. I just thought, you know, everyone needs to know this, how to meet with a plant, and then, halfway through writing it, mugwork goes. What are you even thinking and mug work turned it into a 100 fifty-page book.
100
00:18:27.860 –> 00:18:38.109
I had to work with mugwort every single day that I wrote, because my work was like, no, you’ve got to get the really deep respect in place, because otherwise people will miss
101
00:18:38.140 –> 00:18:45.080
misuse the information and use it for their own gain. So you have to have that really deep respect for the
102
00:18:45.420 –> 00:18:50.760
living plant energies that you won’t get if you just leave it as a kind of
103
00:18:50.760 –> 00:19:20.460
step one sit outside right? And that actually opens to a question that I was asking. I was thinking, as you were saying, that when you say I worked with mugwort every day. Every one of us has our own way for you. What did working with mugwort on this look like? By the way, I’m not surprised that mugwort did this, knowing everything I know about mugwort and the work that we do here with mugwort during the solstice, not surprised at all.
104
00:19:20.460 –> 00:19:45.950
So for me, working with mugwort every day was literally tuning in. I work a lot with tinctures, so I make tinctures, and I mean I’ve got like half a dozen sat on my desk now, and each one is a different plant that I’m working with for different reasons, and I don’t work with them all every day. But at that time, when I was writing that last book, working with mugwort every day, was taking.
105
00:19:46.390 –> 00:19:53.630
I can’t remember something like 3 drops of this tincture and just tuning in for 20 min, and just
106
00:19:53.850 –> 00:20:04.540
just asking mug work to be with me, and that they to help me remain clear to get me the human Rachel out of the way so that mug work could get the words down.
107
00:20:05.500 –> 00:20:06.210
Yeah.
108
00:20:06.340 –> 00:20:07.950
yeah, and that. And that’s
109
00:20:08.010 –> 00:20:11.299
that’s the beauty of it. It’s simplicity. I feel like
110
00:20:11.980 –> 00:20:27.820
when we talk about plant communication and plant whispering. And you know, people are looking for information and courses. And sometimes I’m like. It’s as easy. You have to start with just being present, right? Just giving yourself that permission. And
111
00:20:27.820 –> 00:20:51.660
each one of us tunes in in slightly different ways some people are going to go wanna sit with that plant in a way. Sometimes you’re gonna just wanna stare in my spirit. Wild plant quiz, for example. Some of the exercises I give are done with a photograph right, because you can’t always get to where the plant is. But not only that, it’s not always necessary. Sometimes some things you wanna do you can do in your own home or in that space.
112
00:20:51.660 –> 00:20:59.400
But it’s about setting that intention and opening that channel of communication, and I love the idea of the tinctures I for a long time have worked with
113
00:20:59.400 –> 00:21:21.499
essential oils even way. Before I got directly into plants. I had always chosen my essential oils, based on Kabbalistic associations with plants, but very much tuning into the plant and looking at those oils similar to what you do with the tinctures, you know, looking at the oils every morning and being like, who am I supposed to work with
114
00:21:21.500 –> 00:21:41.439
today? And, for example. Right now, I’m kind of primarily working with 3 different essences and my whole, you know, just just every morning like who is the person who is the person, the plant person that’s going to work with me today through that way. And it’s it’s like inviting them in to your work, inviting them into your essence
115
00:21:41.680 –> 00:22:00.760
absolutely. And it’s such a beautiful and simple thing. We don’t have to overcomplicate it. What have you found that has changed, I mean for you, from what I understand for you, this was like a proper initiation with mugwort in the end. What has changed in your life, thanks to this relationship with mugwort.
116
00:22:01.957 –> 00:22:09.059
Well, I mean, it’s become everything I do to be honest. So so working.
117
00:22:09.950 –> 00:22:15.700
yeah, from that moment of mugwort initiation onwards.
118
00:22:19.140 –> 00:22:26.000
it’s it’s my focus, my focus. And it’s I mean, it’s constant. It was becoming more constant. It was growing
119
00:22:26.240 –> 00:22:27.080
just
120
00:22:27.540 –> 00:22:29.060
more well, you know.
121
00:22:29.170 –> 00:22:34.960
the more you kind of understand the plants as people and as living beings.
122
00:22:35.520 –> 00:22:41.459
the more. It’s a constant communication, right all the time. But
123
00:22:41.570 –> 00:22:53.919
I think this was still very early on in my journey. So it was. It was like it was like the door opening at that moment, and from from that moment on, because I think before then it was still.
124
00:22:53.990 –> 00:22:57.922
even though I knew there was a lot of magic underneath it.
125
00:22:58.300 –> 00:23:00.599
And that’s why I was interested in it.
126
00:23:02.520 –> 00:23:08.699
The kind of the kind of penny hadn’t dropped. You know. The kind of crystallizing moment where it all is like.
127
00:23:09.450 –> 00:23:37.989
This is what it all is hadn’t happened, and it did with that mud work moment. And so it was like walking into Wonderland. And so the changes that have happened is just like is is that that I’m now living in Wonderland, and that all the plants are there, and they’re talking and communicating, and I feel like I I work for them because for the mud, and there is a mushroom I work for as well, and it’s and it’s
128
00:23:38.050 –> 00:23:58.669
you know I’ve kind of got sacred contracts with a couple of them where I’m kind of. I’m I’m living a promise, you know. It’s almost like I’m a i’m a nun, except obviously I’m not a nun, but you know I’m living a sacred promise to to help bring their truth to the world and to to people whose ears, you know, like the
129
00:23:59.150 –> 00:24:16.289
the mainstream. You know we are opening up the difference now compared to the early 2 thousands when I’d started, you know, when this happened for me mid 2 thousands when 2,006, when this moment with Mugwit happened, it’s incredible. How much
130
00:24:16.650 –> 00:24:27.919
more it’s been spoken of podcasts like your own. Or you know the Plant Consciousness Conference that happened in the UK a few years ago, where I 1st saw you. Actually.
131
00:24:28.310 –> 00:24:36.559
all of these kind of things books being written, there is so much more interest and opening, because I think as soon as you have, that
132
00:24:36.800 –> 00:24:38.700
inkling is like
133
00:24:39.160 –> 00:24:43.030
something true comes awake in your heart, doesn’t it. And it’s like.
134
00:24:43.200 –> 00:24:45.219
this is what I’ve been missing.
135
00:24:45.290 –> 00:24:51.039
And so it’s like, Okay, more and more people are having that moment. So how do you then help.
136
00:24:51.050 –> 00:24:53.629
You know, I feel like it’s my
137
00:24:53.650 –> 00:25:00.960
part of my role is to help people go from that initial moment of inkling to going.
138
00:25:01.320 –> 00:25:17.829
Oh, yes, this is so natural for me. I can do it. I’m here now, but sometimes you need that little bit help over the threshold, and and I feel like that that’s what the plants have guided me to do. So that’s kind of what I do. I love the way you put it in the the way that you say it. It’s
139
00:25:19.400 –> 00:25:35.329
anybody who listens to the podcast knows that I struggle with words. Sometimes when we’re having these discussions, and that’s a positive thing in my mind, because that’s exactly what’s changing. What’s changing is our paradigm, our vocabulary, the way we experience the world, the relationships, all these different pieces. And I love
140
00:25:35.330 –> 00:25:51.070
the way that you’re speaking about it, that it’s not about Mugwort’s characteristics, you know, although that is a part of it, right? We take a tincture, maybe because it connects us to this aspect or this particular thing, or it’s going to make this, you know, like you said, your stomach aches can make better and stuff. But that’s
141
00:25:51.190 –> 00:26:06.629
that’s 1 part. But what we’re talking about here is so much more. It’s almost like a light bulb that goes off. And you realize that there’s this been this part of you that has been dark, this part of of your personal interstate.
142
00:26:08.670 –> 00:26:25.600
or what I call your inner plantness that’s hasn’t been activated. It’s not accessible to you. There’s all these different ways of thinking and of being and of living in that magical wonder that we get when we are that we feel so deeply when we’re connected to nature. And it’s almost as if this
143
00:26:25.600 –> 00:26:45.370
this happens. This slow lights slowly coming on from the inside out that you realize is this part of you that has been missing and that it’s not so much about. Okay, what’s changed is that, you know I can now do mathematics in a much easier way, but it’s more like.
144
00:26:45.640 –> 00:26:48.030
can’t almost explain it. It just
145
00:26:48.320 –> 00:27:16.950
life just seems more complete. It seems more in flow. I feel like I have support. I mean a big piece of that that I feel, and I hear from my clients and from the people is, I’m not alone. There’s this other piece of me that has been missing, and that not just me, but me, as in me, in that interspecies sort of me, because I can hear those whispers. Now I can hear those connections.
146
00:27:17.020 –> 00:27:31.529
and I feel like this is such an important aspect of what changes. That’s why, you know, the podcast is called reconnect with plant wisdom. It’s about this reconnection to a part of ourselves that comes from that plantness within us.
147
00:27:32.080 –> 00:27:47.180
Oh, yeah, absolutely. As you were saying, that I was getting this image of, you know, kind of modern human. It’s almost like we’re born into a kind of a solitary. This is how it feels for me. We’re born into a solitary confinement cell
148
00:27:47.850 –> 00:27:51.470
because all of these connections that we should.
149
00:27:51.490 –> 00:28:04.239
we should. We could have been born with had we been born in the jungle, or, you know, in the Great Meadows, or, you know, living in a you know yurt or something in the in the middle of the wilderness we weren’t.
150
00:28:04.310 –> 00:28:17.459
And so all of those connections that we would otherwise have had naturally from day one were never there so suddenly. It’s like you’re sitting in this solitary confinement cell
151
00:28:17.520 –> 00:28:23.149
all these years. And then suddenly, you realize that there actually aren’t any walls around it at all.
152
00:28:23.700 –> 00:28:32.270
and that you’re you are sitting in the field, and that everybody is talking to you. But you, you know it takes a little while to
153
00:28:32.440 –> 00:28:43.239
unlearn that those walls are there because it’s like we are born in these like square houses, and you know, don’t get your fingers muddy. Don’t go and play in the dirt, you know.
154
00:28:43.290 –> 00:28:54.539
Don’t touch that flower. It could be poisonous, exactly, exactly, and that’s that’s interest, that’s it. That’s exactly it. It’s like you you’re built in. You’re you’re in this solitary confinement
155
00:28:54.550 –> 00:29:23.599
container that has been made. It’s and it’s completely artificial. It’s it’s these things that separate us from what our true nature is, both inside as well as outside of it. And, like you said, our cities are built wrong. Our cities are built. With this separation in mind as opposed to. I was looking. I was watching something I don’t know, like Star Wars or something the other day, and I was looking at the city that they were depicting, you know, and I was.
156
00:29:23.600 –> 00:29:37.109
And I thought to myself, If that’s the city of the future, I don’t want it absolutely do not want, do not want. I mean, they’re all like wastelands. I was like, Nope, Nope, Nope, I’m going with the ewax.
157
00:29:37.140 –> 00:29:58.850
Just send me off into the jungle, and there’s no reason why our cities can’t be built in this way and why we can’t. And I do think that that’s what happens. Right? As we start to reconnect, we start to see that nature in all different areas and all different locations and all these different aspects. I was curious as to we talked about that with mugwort
158
00:29:59.160 –> 00:30:22.020
for you that really felt like an initiation. And from what I understand, that’s kind of the way that now you pass it on right, because that’s how it came to you, and I want to hear more about that. And yet you do other things. So what is kind of for you the range that you feel now, thanks to Mugwort’s sort of bossiness, the range of things that you offer, how you help people?
159
00:30:22.730 –> 00:30:24.889
Yeah, I mean, the
160
00:30:25.050 –> 00:30:42.470
my intention is always just to help open the door a little bit wider for people so that they can be empowered and walk through the other side and go home. So if they come to a weekend workshop or something that they’ve just got a few beginning skills, they can go and sit with the plant and
161
00:30:42.470 –> 00:30:57.040
and learn how to ask and learn how to listen. And I mean one of the ways I really love to work is with with diets. Might call them dietas, or whatever. But over I tend to do like a 28 days
162
00:30:58.510 –> 00:31:04.779
moon to moon. That’s usually with people who’ve already got some kind of basic plant skills because it’s it’s
163
00:31:05.140 –> 00:31:29.519
can be as simple as like, I worked with the mud work when I was writing the book just 20 min a day either sat with like you sometimes, do, you said, with an image, or sitting outside in the garden, or working with some drops or some tea, or something like that. I mean, I did a diet recently, and one of my people. She was in Germany, and she spent 3 HA day working with the plant. And I was like.
164
00:31:29.520 –> 00:31:52.689
Go, girl, that’s amazing. But yeah, and I find working in groups is so powerful because you’re each getting your own thing. And you’re thinking, oh, I’ve got this resistance. It’s me. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I love this plant. I can’t understand why. And then you all come together at the end of the week, and everyone’s going. Oh, it’s awful! I’ve had a bit of resistance.
165
00:31:52.690 –> 00:32:07.550
You’ve had it. You’ve had it, you’ve had it, and then it kind of helps. You understand. That’s part of what the plant’s response to you like, what does this mean? How do we work through it? Is it a message in some way? So you can kind of
166
00:32:07.550 –> 00:32:28.729
unpack it together, which is really nice rather than just kind of feeling alone, and feeling that, you know. And that’s it’s not just things like resistance. It’s all the other things as well. But all the other gifts and wisdom that you’re given. It’s so nice to receive it as a group, even though you’re setting different intentions of going in there separately. You’re all.
167
00:32:29.040 –> 00:32:33.230
You’re all kind of meeting the character, you know, in a
168
00:32:33.670 –> 00:32:38.639
all coming, their separate routes, but all finding the same person at the other side of it.
169
00:32:38.650 –> 00:33:02.459
Yeah, groups are super important, I mean, for you know I live in community, and all of my work is in community. Right? I founded the naturally conscious community exactly, for what you’re saying is that as we’re going through this because we’re opening up to new experiences, we’re reconnecting with parts of ourself. We didn’t even know we had. We’re redefining words and paradigms and understandings and shedding
170
00:33:02.460 –> 00:33:09.799
and evolving past things. So it’s understandable that it’s going to be scary. It’s going to be strange. It’s going to be
171
00:33:09.800 –> 00:33:19.529
misunderstood. It’s going to be so many different aspects that, having that group, whether it’s the container of a specific
172
00:33:19.530 –> 00:33:33.769
course or event or experience, or whether it’s a larger community kind of like we have in the naturally conscious community, gives you that sense of oh, I can let myself get lost a little bit, and yet not feel lost.
173
00:33:33.770 –> 00:33:50.509
which I think is super important for this, because in order for us to evolve into this interspecies type being an intraspecies type being that we’re exploring for ourselves. It’s so important for us to be able to
174
00:33:51.010 –> 00:33:57.159
feel safe and comfortable enough and and secure to kind of
175
00:33:57.350 –> 00:34:21.130
let go of the definitions that I currently have, and not feel silly about it, not feel mistaken or stupid, or any of those types of things which we know happens right? So I’m in this moment where I’m trying to think of something. And and and I don’t know how to pronounce this word, or I don’t know how to put into words. I think a few episodes back with Fontaine Burnett when we were having a conversation about this.
176
00:34:21.260 –> 00:34:39.449
getting the fuck out of the way. We were talking about this, and we were saying how the words get lost. And so if you’re not in a community in a grouping of safe space where you’re trying to explain, using anything that might come to mind pictures and images and gestures, and all these pieces.
177
00:34:39.449 –> 00:34:54.270
If you were just doing that by yourself, you would probably close that all down, because you’d say, Oh, something is wrong with me, or that doesn’t make any sense. But it’s supposed to not make sense for a while. So you need that community to hold you
178
00:34:54.270 –> 00:35:16.370
in the not making sense. It’s not even. I think most people think that the community is to be able to always share experiences, and that’s always great, but oftentimes the community is there to just hold that space for you, and to allow you to express, and that it bounces off the person, and through their expressions, through their feelings, through the way that they deal with it. Then you sort of
179
00:35:16.370 –> 00:35:24.349
better understand it as you’re going through it. So I totally understand why the community and why the group is so important.
180
00:35:24.620 –> 00:35:31.810
Oh, absolutely the way you describe that is absolutely perfect, because there, there are no words for this territory. This this territory is
181
00:35:31.830 –> 00:35:49.630
is a natural territory, but with, you know, having been in that confinement cell for so long, you know we we don’t know what the language is, you know we don’t, even, you know, using key for plant, you know, like as in as in day, you know.
182
00:35:49.930 –> 00:35:54.690
that came from Robin Walker. Kimura, didn’t it? And I’m so grateful for that, because.
183
00:35:54.720 –> 00:35:59.390
you know, I remember a few years ago, before I’d heard of the word key
184
00:35:59.820 –> 00:36:03.709
talking with one of my students at the time, and we were just going.
185
00:36:03.870 –> 00:36:11.589
Our language is so inept, it’s not. It’s not ready for what we’re doing. It’s almost like kind of opening
186
00:36:11.620 –> 00:36:22.049
up to the plants, to our, to our relatives, the plants, and and all all other beings, is is something that is so natural, and should always have been there. And yet
187
00:36:22.100 –> 00:36:28.809
we have, as a culture and as a language, have closed down so much that the room isn’t there
188
00:36:28.940 –> 00:36:54.829
to describe it? It’s like somebody who goes and does their 1st acid trip. They come back. How was it? Well, I can’t. There’s no words. It’s the same, you know. I’ve gone out, and I spoke to the plants all weekend on this workshop. How was it? There are no words, I completely agree, and we talk about this all the time. Vocabulary limits us so much. It constrains our thoughts, it constrains.
189
00:36:54.830 –> 00:37:15.720
you know, the way that we try to express it, and even the way we feel it. And that’s why it’s so great to have a grouping of people and also a safe space like we said, whether it’s, you know, one of your courses, you know your events, or whether we’re talking about the naturally conscious community to have that safe space to also explore other forms of
190
00:37:15.840 –> 00:37:26.889
interpretation and understanding. Right? We we need all of that. The art and the dance, and the you know, and the creation I found the other day I was cooking.
191
00:37:27.160 –> 00:37:40.209
and I really love to cook. I tend not to cook for others that much, because I experiment a lot when I cook so it can be horrible, and it can be wonderful when it’s wonderful. It’s wonderful. And the other day I put something together that was
192
00:37:40.330 –> 00:37:45.650
so delicious, and I realized, as I was doing this, that
193
00:37:45.670 –> 00:38:11.230
it was also coming from that safe space to explore other parts of myself, which is a big piece of all of this work that I’m doing with the plants, and that I do is how do we create that safe space? And so, since I was in the kitchen. I had this completely safe space, and I was like, you know what I’m going to? Just I literally, for the 1st time in a long time pulled all the spices out of my cabinet, and I put them all on the table.
194
00:38:11.530 –> 00:38:15.050
and I was looking at him, and I was saying, I need to refresh
195
00:38:15.100 –> 00:38:18.139
everything I have with these new eyes.
196
00:38:18.180 –> 00:38:23.150
and I remember I pulled out Ginger, and I was almost kind of ginger was. The
197
00:38:24.130 –> 00:38:27.329
ginger ended up being the sort of the the
198
00:38:27.470 –> 00:38:45.519
what’s the word I’m looking for? Kind of not I don’t want to say, the leader of the pack. But Ginger ended up being kind of the cornerstone right of what I was creating that flavor, and I remember pulling out, and it was my last piece of fresh ginger which had been honestly in the fridge for a while. But I was like
199
00:38:45.720 –> 00:39:05.589
pulled out, and I was like, this is my freshness like this is the being that is going to guide this. I know it sounds kind of Corny, but that was just what happened, and I put down, and I started to. And I and I was like, Okay, guide me like, help me find these connections and the connections with flavors, almost as in the connections with
200
00:39:05.590 –> 00:39:29.530
the different plants through me and that aspect, and of course I would have you know I would have never gotten there. Sure, we’re all. I’m a very intuitive cook, and when I do, which is again, why, I don’t even know how to repeat any of the recipes that I make. And and so, but it was that it was that feeling of like lightness and a feeling of connection. As I was doing this that was just so
201
00:39:29.530 –> 00:39:49.829
incredibly powerful to me. So it makes sense to me that one of your books is called rewilding and the art of plant whispering, because this really is a rewilding right. It’s not just a reconnection. It’s a reallowing myself to be a little bit more feral, a little bit more wild. What is rewilding for you?
202
00:39:50.640 –> 00:39:58.650
Yeah, rewilding for me is is about just dropping some of this kind of conditioning, and
203
00:39:58.680 –> 00:40:11.460
I mean domestication the kind of wearing of shoes. You know, I was talking to someone on the local radio, actually on the on the weekend. They they phoned me up because I’ve done these kind of barefoot
204
00:40:11.660 –> 00:40:41.450
walks. It’s not really to do with plant work, but it’s to do with the rewilding, and it’s and it’s like walking barefoot that’s rewilding. It’s like walking on the earth having skin to skin, contact with living brothers and sisters with the millions, the billions of bacteria and fungi in the soil. You know they’re all living beings have all got messages, and we our skin. We kind of take in. We’re just vibrations. We’re not, really, you know, these kind of
205
00:40:41.510 –> 00:40:50.809
waterproof little units. We’re kind of taking it all in, and, you know, absorbing and exchanging. And if and if we’re not
206
00:40:51.820 –> 00:41:17.930
doing that with our wild brothers and sisters, we’re doing it with a plastic chair. I’m sat on a plastic chair in a concrete room, you know. It’s like that’s what I’m otherwise doing it with. So the whole rewilding bit is about. Come on, let’s get ourselves into a better condition. Let’s get ourselves realigning with the natural way of being, and part of that realignment is realizing that there’s an ongoing conversation happening
207
00:41:17.970 –> 00:41:27.890
everywhere all the time between all species. And we are one of those species, and we’re just not tuning in, so as soon as you start tuning in, it’s like
208
00:41:28.560 –> 00:41:36.556
bloody hell. I didn’t know I didn’t know. And so then the the art bit in the title of that book, The Art of
209
00:41:37.730 –> 00:41:55.489
You know, when you talked about your cookery, that was the art. The art is an experiment, and it’s a like there isn’t a right or wrong. It’s like, Okay, as long as I’ve got an open heart, and I’m trusting. And I and I believe there’s something going on here. Let’s let’s see what happens.
210
00:41:55.580 –> 00:42:07.230
you know. And I mean I’m very much into that. So I love that you’re kind of like. Hi, Ginger. Come on, then, show me. Let’s see what you’ve got, you know. Let’s let’s play together and see where we get, you know, and I love that.
211
00:42:07.370 –> 00:42:22.010
And this is a great point for me to just pause for a second. I want to share with our audience one of our ego conscious business partners, because these are the types of companies and organizations and groups that are really doing exactly
212
00:42:22.060 –> 00:42:33.129
what we’re talking about. They’re bringing all of this type of learning and experiences and connection into another realm. So let’s share one of them with you. Now.
213
00:42:34.850 –> 00:42:45.030
from earth to pocket. A smartphone’s journey is filled with unfair practices, which is why I was so happy to have found Fairphone.
214
00:42:45.210 –> 00:42:56.879
Because today, in this modern world, you can’t live without your phone. So if you’re going to have a phone in your pocket, you might as well make sure it is the number one most ecological phone you could have there.
215
00:42:57.140 –> 00:43:03.029
It’s no secret that fairphone is out to change the world. Fairphone puts people and planet first.st
216
00:43:03.030 –> 00:43:27.769
They care about human rights and worker well-being. They care about climate and the planet’s delicate ecosystem, and they care about designing a longer lasting product, so that rather than having to change it constantly, you can actually upgrade it easily and simply. They’re a bee certified company. They have a platinum metal in Ecovadis, which is all about the way that they run the company, and then I fix it
217
00:43:27.770 –> 00:43:41.309
10 out of 10 score. In other words, it is super easy for you to open this up and just change a piece rather than having to throw it out and get something new, plus they have a fair trade gold integrated standard.
218
00:43:41.310 –> 00:44:05.480
So if you’re looking for a new phone, I want to help you get a discount on a fairphone. So click the link in the show notes and get €25 off, or the equivalent of your currency, and get yourself a fair phone. The quality is bar none. The camera is amazing. And seriously, you are going to be so proud to share this with your friends and family.
219
00:44:07.200 –> 00:44:31.589
So, Rachel, as we’re kind of like getting into the closing up of our conversation because there’s just so many other questions that I want to ask. I want to kind of go back to Mug Ward. I’d love to hear about right now what you feel are kind of like. What is the work that you and mugwort are doing in this moment? Is it something specific? Or do you feel like it’s more open-ended? What’s your relationship like today?
220
00:44:34.070 –> 00:44:35.280
I think
221
00:44:35.570 –> 00:44:37.629
very much, I mean
222
00:44:37.810 –> 00:44:38.630
for the
223
00:44:39.020 –> 00:44:49.420
so I’ve been working, as I said, with mugwort since 2,006. Since that very 1st day I ever met Mugwort. It was a changing point, and
224
00:44:49.650 –> 00:44:53.889
in all that time I’ve never been led to
225
00:44:53.960 –> 00:44:56.320
kind of offer
226
00:44:56.490 –> 00:45:13.709
that as an experience to other people. But actually, this summer I am this summer. I am offering a so-called mugwort initiation, and I and I think, see, I don’t always understand why things are happening. I’m just sometimes guided to do things. And
227
00:45:13.890 –> 00:45:23.500
but I also behind the scenes I’m I’m actually trialing with some of my old students. A sort of it’s almost like a
228
00:45:23.510 –> 00:45:30.979
a teacher or a leadership training, and I think the mugwort initiation is is one part of that.
229
00:45:31.000 –> 00:45:32.110
While
230
00:45:32.170 –> 00:45:35.679
I’m trialling this other. This other training schedule behind
231
00:45:35.850 –> 00:45:44.879
the scenes. It’s like taking it to another, to another level. I think I’m being being guided by mug work to
232
00:45:46.120 –> 00:46:13.710
because so many people have had that initial opening now, and it is required that we get more and more and more people aware of the natural living world and the true nature of reality that okay. So people are stepping up a little bit more. They want to be teaching themselves. They want to be doing this and that. And I believe that my work is saying, Okay, so create a safe container, create a place where
233
00:46:14.210 –> 00:46:22.310
you can encourage people that they’ve got what they need to take it forward. And so that’s where I think my work is now
234
00:46:22.310 –> 00:46:48.929
asking me, asking me to do that, asking me to step up. Is it open-ended. I don’t know. Maybe maybe next year it will say you need to retire. Now, sweetheart, who knows? Who knows? So that’s the mugwort initiation you have coming up in this summer right in July. Yeah, great. I’ll make sure that we put that in the show notes. We’ll put that in the show notes. We’ll also put the link to your book rewilding and the art of plant whispering.
235
00:46:48.930 –> 00:46:56.030
Is there anything else there’s so many other things I know we could cover. But is there anything that you feel like is really important that you want to share with everyone?
236
00:46:58.050 –> 00:47:04.460
Oh, I don’t know. I mean the only thing that I would like to say is just, you know.
237
00:47:05.590 –> 00:47:10.040
Give it time. Never judge yourself, you know. Never judge yourself about
238
00:47:10.500 –> 00:47:20.219
doing the plant work, and and don’t give yourself a hard time about having to go and sit with a plant, and then I’ve never got time, or I’m failing. I’m not doing it. I’m writing.
239
00:47:20.520 –> 00:47:31.069
Just find 5 min, that’s all it takes, isn’t it? And I mean all I really want to say to people. It’s not about promoting my work or anything. It’s about just getting up there and making
240
00:47:31.170 –> 00:47:44.379
just 5 min. Just give yourself the intention even 5 min a week long, even if that’s all. You’ve got just 5 min on a Saturday morning, and just make the time stand outside barefoot. If you have a place where you can do that.
241
00:47:44.490 –> 00:47:45.719
and then sit.
242
00:47:46.220 –> 00:47:55.929
look at who’s calling your attention and just pay attention. And just, you know, just just make space for this, because as soon as a tiny little.
243
00:47:56.280 –> 00:47:57.629
a tiny little
244
00:47:58.290 –> 00:48:03.320
opens in your in your kind of in your, in your way with plants.
245
00:48:03.620 –> 00:48:10.419
it will get bigger, and it will get bigger. And you know it’s fine reading reading books and doing all these things. But
246
00:48:10.550 –> 00:48:26.810
you need to be there, and you need to make that connection with plant. You can do it for a cup of tea, you know. You can do it with a plant in your carp. If you live in an apartment in the middle of the city. You can’t do anything else. Get fresh plants, talk to your fresh plants. You’ve got your spider plants in your room, you know it’s
247
00:48:26.930 –> 00:48:32.839
we’re there. We’re surrounded by communication. Just open your heart to it, and that’s that’s what I’d like to say to people
248
00:48:32.940 –> 00:48:37.720
I’d love that I love it. I love that you said. It’s also it is just 5 min a day. It’s
249
00:48:37.760 –> 00:48:45.280
it’s you said, something really beautiful in there that I think is so important that we don’t recognize it’s giving attention to what you hear calling
250
00:48:45.280 –> 00:49:00.430
kind of like you originally did when you were asking. You know, the wallflowers to speak to you. And then, when they did, you listened, you heard that word. You could have ignored that word like Oh, I don’t know what that word is, I don’t know if that’s really a plant or not, but you didn’t. You went and you followed up on it.
251
00:49:00.430 –> 00:49:18.609
and I think sometimes we throughout the course of our day we feel that call. That call could be like you said, you know, starting with your cup of tea and my tea, which is combination of because it’s a gemma chas. So it’s like rice and green tea. And you feel like, okay, if I connect to this plant right through the drinking of this.
252
00:49:18.690 –> 00:49:41.129
Who else will then activate and want to talk to me? And it could just be a few minutes. It could even be your own clothing lately, as I’ve changed a lot of my clothing over to more natural fibers, and really looking for quality, how the clothing was made with real intention, and where the plants were sourced from, who were the plants that gave up their lives?
253
00:49:41.130 –> 00:49:54.370
I feel so much more connected, and I can listen for a second, and then let that guide me wherever I might go. So I think it is so important for us to not worry about how long.
254
00:49:54.410 –> 00:50:05.389
It doesn’t matter even if it’s only 30 seconds, that 30 seconds of presence, that 30 seconds of listening, that 30 seconds of acceptance of myself and of another that is trying to communicate with me.
255
00:50:05.440 –> 00:50:25.609
Even that is so powerful, and it’ll move from there it’ll grow. It’ll change. It’ll morph. But that giving yourself. It’s like an internal permission that says rather than even forcing myself, because sometimes we try to use discipline. And we try to say, Oh, I’m going to give myself 5 min or 20 min every single day, because if it’s not, it’s not worth it.
256
00:50:25.940 –> 00:50:53.519
Yes, that could be useful for some people. It would never work for me. By the way, but what’s more powerful, I find, is giving myself permission when I wake up in the day and saying I’m going to follow that voice. So if that voice calls to me, I’m going to follow, and I’m going to listen and giving ourselves that permission. I find that to be incredibly powerful, because throughout the course of the day somebody’s going to talk to you.
257
00:50:53.630 –> 00:50:58.600
Somebody is going to say something, and those 5 min at that point are going to go by like
258
00:50:58.720 –> 00:51:06.570
like that, and you’re going to turn around. And after it’s all happened, and like you’re at the end of the day, and you’re like, Hey? I spent, you know.
259
00:51:06.610 –> 00:51:11.860
1010 min standing in front of you know, such and such house plant.
260
00:51:12.000 –> 00:51:18.749
I wonder what that was all about. But you allowed yourself to do that, and then over time, that relationship will then unfold
261
00:51:19.150 –> 00:51:43.030
absolutely absolutely perfect. I love it, I love it. It has been such a wonderful conversation I will like, I said definitely. Put in all your links in the show notes, and so that we have it, and I’m really excited to see, you know where Mugword takes you, but it sounds it feels like somebody else is going to come in soon. Feels like, you know, Mugwort’s going to hand you off to somebody else.
262
00:51:43.030 –> 00:51:56.799
Well, let’s see, let’s see, it’s the great unfolding. Who knows? Who knows? Thank you so much, Rachel. Thank you for this conversation, and I look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things that you’re doing
263
00:51:56.990 –> 00:52:07.440
likewise. Thank you so much. All right. Everyone. That is another episode of reconnect with plant wisdom. This time our mugwort dreaming with Rachel Corby.
264
00:52:07.590 –> 00:52:34.839
And I am just so excited to continue these types of conversations. Please, like I said, give yourself those 5 min. Give yourself permission to experience what is happening, what is unfolding around you. And we’re here in the naturally conscious community in all the other channels, waiting to hear all about your stories. So we’ll talk again very soon, and remember. Resist the urge to hold back your emerging green brilliance. This is Tigrilla Gardenia. I’m out.
265
00:52:36.760 –> 00:52:53.180
Thanks for listening to this episode of reconnect with plant wisdom intro on outro music by Steve Shuli and poinsettia from the singing life of plants. So join me, Tigrilla, Gardenia, and my plant collaborators next time on reconnect with plant wisdom.
