Your Spirit Wild Plant Is Purslane (Portulaca oleracea)

You have probably walked past Purslane without noticing. Ki grows in crop fields, dry soils, sidewalk cracks, and rocky driveways.

Purslane looks small and easy to overlook. Look closer, and you find what scientists call a kind of “super plant.” Purslane can switch how ki uses sunlight: highly productive when conditions are good, and saving water in heat and drought. Ki’s seeds can wait in the soil for years, then grow when the time is right.

That is your Purslane nature, too. You care about a lot, and you work hard for it, often long past the point of tired. Like Purslane, you work best in rhythm: resting when your energy is low, and working fully when it rises. When you follow that rhythm, your work flows. You get more done, with much less effort, than you ever could by pushing through.

Check your inbox. Over the coming days, Purslane and I will share the message ki brought to my balcony, a practice for finding your own rhythm of action and rest, and a place where you can rest and still be part of the change.

If you do not see my first email in a few minutes, check your promotions or spam folder.

An empty pot with nourishing soil is all Purslane needs to arrive. Here is yours.

The Naturally Conscious Community® (NCC) is a free community for people who are tired of seeing humans treat Nature as a resource instead of a relative, and tired of shrinking themselves to fit a machine-made mold. It is the place where we rest, spark ideas in conversation, and act on them together.

Inside, multipassionate changemakers, neuro-atypical creatives, and anyone who feels the world too deeply to stay quiet about it explore what it means to be human in a living world, as beings of Nature among all beings of Nature. Plants are our closest partners in NCC: intelligent, communicating, relational beings who have been growing on land for over 470 million years. We grow and evolve alongside kin. We create, discuss, learn from, advocate, and act on what we love, together.

Your first step inside is one question: what does “Naturally Conscious” mean to you? Over 500 answers are already there, waiting for yours.
